For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by history, specifically the history of Portuguese women: figures such as Theresa of León, who played a pivotal role in the founding of Portugal; Philippa of Lancaster and the "Illustrious Generation"; and Maria I, who promoted women's education—to name but a few examples.

This project is the culmination of various drawing techniques, incorporating pencil, printed images, and botanical illustrations of real flowers and plants gathered on Flores island, alongside mahogany wood, which had an economic impact on the history of art and furniture in the Azores. This project pays tribute not only to those women of unshakeable character—true forces of nature—who were born in Portugal, or who arrived in or left the country through marriage, but also to the materials themselves, which hold profound significance in the history of Portugal and the Azores.
